First Things First

Its amazing how we often times live our lives. From our childhood our imagination races as to what we will be when we grow up and or how rich we can become.

As a child, daily my mom would give myself and my siblings a small glass of orange juice along with breakfast. There were four of us and we were clothed well, had a decent and well kept roof over our heads and each day we sure to be given our daily meals complete with a snack that awaited us upon our arrival from school. But how I loved orange juice and didn't quite understand why the portions were so small. When I asked Mommy for more, she would say simply say "You've had enough, you don't need any more." Yeah, well I wanted it and I was determined to find a way to get it! I remember on several occasions entertaining for many minutes how I could obtain enough money that could buy my own bottle. (You''ve guessed my age:) )

With my first paycheck from my first job at age sixteen, I bought a tin can of butter cookies and a carton of orange juice. I had now realized my dream. Isn't this what I lived for? Not! Many years, many pounds and several doctor visits later, I discovered that God had a plan for my life. The "plan" was first, everything else including but not limited to orange juice and butter cookies was second. I was a kid all over again, except I began to consume in "small" portions what was necessary to execute the "plan". Boy was this the first step to living large! Stay tuned!
